Victoria United Reserves host Highlander Reserves
Monday July 13, 2009
Sunday, July 13, 2009 at Royal Athletic Park Victoria United Reserves hosted Victoria Highlander Reserves in a close game that would favor the Highlander's 1 - nil.
United may have been pleased to have the first shot on net, but the Highlander's were rewarded with the first, and only, goal of the match which came in the 5th minute.
The young lads of United soon got over any "nerves" they may have had and went on to show the Highlander's that they were there to compete - ball for ball; play for play. A strong backline for United kept the game to 1 - nil at the half.
The two teams seemed fairly evenly matched in the second half - United appeared more confident and were moving the ball much better. Several missed opportunities were had, but United were unable to score and the game would end at 1 - nil.
The match was a perfect way for the United team to prepare for their upcoming weekend when they will travel to the interior to take on 1st place Okanagan Whitecap on Saturday and Kamploops Excel on Sunday.
